Amber Valley CVS is the umbrella organisation for the district’s voluntary sector and the main provider of support for local voluntary and community groups. We are a member of NAVCA (the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action) and have over 200 member organisations.
Our aims are to support groups and individuals involved in a wide range of activities and initiatives, which will help improve the quality of life for people in our area.
What Can Amber Valley CVS Offer You?
Amber Valley CVS offers a range of services to respond to the needs of volunteers, voluntary organisations, community groups and individuals.
Services we currently provide include;
Volunteering
We recruit and support volunteers, for a wide and diverse range of activities such as:
- Volunteering with younger people
- Befriending
- Conservation work
- Supporting older people
- Supporting people with learning difficulties
- Supporting people with Mental Ill Health
We support community groups with their volunteering needs and advertise their volunteering opportunities.
Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Checks
We provide CRB checks for local community or charity groups.
Training
We run a varied programme of short courses and training events in areas such as health and safety, fundraising and First Aid.
Funding Advice
We provide information, advice and support on Funding and Governance issues, Development plans and Policies by individual visits or group events.
SOS
Our support or signposting service works with young people and families to ensure that their issues and concerns are addressed.
AVEDASS
Our AVEDASS team provide independent support to prevent and combat domestic abuse and to offer protection and support to women, men and children who are experiencing it.
Befriending
We provide a free Befriending service for people aged 50 and over, providing a volunteer to visit once a week in your own home to provide some companionship.
Home from Hospital
We provide a free short term Befriending service for people aged 50 or over, to ensure they are safe and confident when returning home from hospital.
Help at Home
The aim of this service is to enable people from Amber Valley and Erewash to live independently in their homes. Through a team of trained and police checked domestic and garden workers, we carry out tasks which many of us have undertaken in the past but are no longer able to do because of age, disability or illness.

Partnership Working
We work in partnership with other voluntary and statutory agencies to ensure the development of the sector.
We liaise with various statutory bodies such as the local authority and health agencies and influence policy development at a local, regional and national level.
